HAZARDOUS REMEDIATION PROGRAM

The Hazardous Remediation Program encompasses a wide range of activities to protect the tribal community and the environment by conducting hazard identifications and removing them. This includes conducting site investigations, carrying out remedial action plans, establishing procedures to mitigate risk of hazardous releases, and immediate spill response during emergencies. The program aims to clean up historic sources of contamination and prevent new sources from entering the environment. Key aspects involve conducting environmental site assessments & cleanup, hazardous waste & petroleum storage tank compliance inspections, and implementing environmental health & safety protocols by coordinating with departments, agencies & stakeholders.

Mission: 


Under Hazardous Remediation, the program strives to revitalize the tribal community by removing historic sources of contamination and preventing new ones from entering the environment by ensuring compliance with applicable environmental laws and regulations during its activities.

Program Tasks:


  • The Hazardous Remediation section's duties include providing technical guidance to personnel who work with hazardous substances, compliance assistance, coordinating removal of hazardous substances, performing site-specific hazard remediation activities related to the assessment, remediation, monitoring, document management and closure of contaminated sites.
